Fashion

Fashion in the 1910s was no force to be messed with. Women wore beautiful dresses made of suede, silk, and also faux fur. Their feet were accented with high heeled shoes with pointed V toes, but probably the most important element of the outfits of this time were the hats.

Hats in the 1910s were big, fluffy, and - did I say big yet? The typical hat for a 1910s lady would have been wide brimmed, like a farmers hat, but made of elegant materials. A fluffy plume, usually pink or red, would top of this lush garment.

Mens clothing is an entirely different matter. They wore black and brown suits with white shirts underneath, but with no tie or bow. The suits occasionally had light stripes, and these stripes contrasted well on the dark cloth of the mens suit.

The men also wore black or brown slightly pointed shoes, usually made of patent leather. Some men even carried canes! Popular hats were like the ones you might see in Indiana Jones, usually fedoras with a black band running just above the brim. Mens hats are still in style today!
